Museum tracing town heritage with a diverse range of ancient, military, natural & medical artifacts.

Felixstowe Museum houses 14 galleries displaying the military and social history of this popular seaside resort. Even the building is of historical interest as it was once a submarine mining establishment.

Our award-winning museum is managed by a team of friendly, dynamic volunteers who are always happy to help. Their expertise is second to none and is always delivered with enthusiasm and a passion for history.

Our collections are regularly updated and there are new exhibitions each season to enjoy. Exhibitions will be previewed on our website, so check back regularly for updates on what’s new.

The Museum is located at Landguard Point, adjacent to the Dock Viewing Area, where there is ample free parking. The scheduled hourly Number 77 bus service from Ipswich via Felixstowe to Landguard will deliver you to our gates. You can also reach us by the foot ferry from Harwich and Shotley if operating.

Disability & Access

All public galleries and spaces are fully accessible and wheelchair friendly.

There is a wheelchair available on request, which can be borrowed free of charge.

There is ample free parking directly outside the Museum.

Well behaved dogs are welcome!

On arrival got the disabled parking easily and it was free of cost which was very good. The history is immense and the artifacts are lovingly restored and looked after. We even took the fur beast in with us. The staff were very knowledgeable and considerate. The layout of the museum is very natural and the passage from one zone to another flows. The place is easily accessible for wheelchair users like me also and also if you need the wheelchair they will provide you with free of cost. Accessible toilets too available and overall whole place accessible to me. Great visit.
